Urgent recall of a DOZEN baby sleeping bags that could be fatal

Parents who have already bought the sleeping bags have been told to stop using them with immediate effect as they carry a ‘serious’ risk of harm.
The Office for Products Safety and Standards issued the warning this week for multiple sleeping bag styles aimed at babies aged 0-12 months.

'Serious risk'
All the sleeping bags identified in the report carry a risk that the baby can slip beneath the covers.

The Government body stated: ‘If used as directed on the Amazon website, the sleep bag presents a serious risk of suffocation, overheating and death.
‘The design of the product allows the baby to slip below the covers causing overheating and potentially airway obstruction, both of which have been associated with sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).’
The report urged parents to ‘stop using this product immediately’ and advised people to contact the distributor to request a refund.
Amazon has now removed the items from sale but parents who already purchased them may be using them unaware of the dangers they pose.

Official advice on the safest place for your baby to sleep until they are at least six months old is in their own cot or Moses basket, in the same room as you.
The Lullaby Trust says sleep items bought for babies should:
- Comply with British standards
- Follow safer sleep guides
- Be waterproof
- Be firm, entirely flat with no raised or cushioned areas
