Family days out

Do you struggle to get the family out and about at the weekend?

Do the days drag on in the holidays, with nowhere to go and nothing to do? Are you bored of visiting the same old places all the time?

We all need a change of scene every now and then, and that’s why we’ve put together this brilliant collection of family places to visit near you.

We’re blessed with a huge selection of places to explore in the UK, yet many of us don’t even know what’s on our doorstep. Castles, ruins, forests, woodland, lakes, canals, family-friendly museums with loads for kids to do: the list goes on.

Visiting somewhere new isn’t just an opportunity to get the children out of the house at the weekend – it’ll open up whole new experiences, and often builds on what they’re learning at school, too.

Studying the Victorians? Why not visit a stately house built in that period? Learning about animals? Then head off to the zoo.

The world – or your neighbourhood – is your oyster.
