The shoes are a hit with shoppers who say they look 'so much more expensive' than they actually are
A pair of buckled ballet pumps from Marks & Spencer have been hailed by fashion fans as the 'perfect' shoes that 'look so much more expensive' than they are.
Predicted to be huge in 2024, this flat shoe style is a favourite with models and influencers, and designer versions from Celine, Miu Miu and Alaia are all over Instagram.
But if you don't fancy forking out on a designer price tag, then good old M&S has come to the rescue.
The store's vintage-style Mary Janes come in three colours and a variety of sizes – but they're selling out fast.

Vintage style
Marks and Spencer's Buckle Flat Square Toe Ballet Pumps have been described by fans as 'very 60s' and the 'perfect' shoe.
Available in sizes 3 to 8, these Mary Jane-style shoes cost just £35 and are a timeless design with a modern toe shape, for the best of both worlds.
They come in three colours, a classic black, muted beige and metallic silver – which is perfect if you want flats that are dressy enough to wear in the evening, too.
Marks and Spencer says:
'These dainty shoes are a timeless blend of ballet pumps and Mary Janes, thanks to their buckled strap.'
The square toe shape adds a modern touch and the shoe's 'Insolia Flex® technology' ensures the correct positioning of your feet for added comfort.
Added antibacterial padding keeps things fresh inside, too.
'Please make in more colours'
M&S shoppers have heaped praise on the shoes.
'Very 60s!,' said one fan. 'Love these shoes, I had a pair in the 60's and am so glad they're back in fashion. They're very comfortable, I went down a half size and although I usually take a wide fitting these fit well as they are a generous width.'
And a second said:
'Look and feel so much more expensive. Worth purchasing.'
'Perfect elegant shoes,' said a third. 'Great shoes – please make in more colours. I buy for my daughter and she now has black and silver. Please do gold, navy, turquoise, tan. She is very tall with size 8 feet and these are elegant. Actually remind me of her school shoes when she was little. Always selling out.'
'Really lovely simple black shoe with buckle,' said another. 'They are comfortable and can wear with trousers or dresses look very trendy.'
'Expensive for vegan leather'
But others said they found a slight flaw with the shoe – and they'd much prefer the shoes in leather.
'Lovely shoes however, would be much better in leather,' said one.
A second said:
'I would have preferred them to be leather which is why I have only given them 4 stars.'
'A comfortable, flat shoe but expensive for ‘vegan leather’, ie plastic!,' added a third.
