Make a crown

An easy to make crown fit for a queen, king, prince or princess.

You will need:

  • Card or foam sheets
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • A stapler
  • Sequins, gems etc to decorate

1. If you don't have any coloured card you can cover it with tin foil to make it look metallic.

2. Measure the strip round your child's head and staple the ends together to make sure it is the right size.

4. First take some stiff card or foam sheets and cut a wide strip with zig zag edges. It needs to be long enough to go round your child's head.

5. If you don't have any coloured card you can cover it with tin foil to make it look metallic.

8. Cut two long thin strips of the card or foam. Staple one from the front of your crown base right to the back to make a crownmake a loop sticking up from the base, almost like a basket handle (see picture). Then add the other strip in the same way this time starting from the side this time, so that the two strips cross over.

9. You can cut a cross shape to stick onto the very top of your crown for added effect.

10. Now comes the fun part. You can decorate your crown to your heart's content. Stick on gems, sequins, little pom poms, glitter or anything else you like. A strip of wadding or cotton wool round the base makes it look very regal indeed.

And there you have it - a crown fit for a queen!
