Our review
Mums traditionally buy a 3-in-1 pram and pushchair combination, but these while useful in the early months when your baby is small, can prove bulky once used as a pushchair. So once your baby can sit up securely, you’ll probably be ready to move them to a lighter weight pushchair, that is more nippy and compact. This is where the Hauck Lift Up 4 comes in.
Suitable from six months, it’s very light and compact and can be folded in seconds with just one hand, so you’ll be able to keep hold of your child or your shopping bag at the same time. The clever and innovative design has a release loop incorporated into the seat that can also be used as a carrying handle, which makes it ideal for travelling on public transport, climbing stairs or for loading into your car’s boot. The aluminum frame is lightweight, making it easier to carry.
What makes the Lift Up particularly great for older babies and toddlers is the wide and roomy seat. It’s deeply padded for comfort, and we think it could easily take children up to four years old. The backrest and footrest can be adjusted individually for more comfort for on the go naps, and the large, extendable hood will give good protection against wind, rain and sun. The hood also has a viewing area so you can keep an eye on your child as you’re pushing them along.
We also like the height-adjustable handle. This makes pushing much more comfortable if you or your partner are either very tall or short as you can extend or shorten it easily. There’s also a five-point harness so your toddler can be secured safely while you’re on the move.
Whilst the Lift Up is definitely more aimed at city life, the wheels can be locked or left to swivel and there is good all-round suspension, so it can tackle some different terrains like grass or cobbles.
Netmums' verdict
The Lift Up is available just at Babies R Us, so you can’t shop around for a cheaper price, but we think that it’s a good solid opinion for a second buggy, if not the lightest option on the market.
