KNEBWORTH GARDENS
The Gardens at Knebworth are delightful throughout the season. The 28 acre formal gardens include a maze, colourful borders, fine trees and a wilderness area with an exciting Dinosaur Trail.
There have been gardens at Knebworth House since at least the 17th Century, but the present layout dates largely from the Edwardian era. The architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, simplified the ornate beds and statuary of the Victorian garden with lawns and avenues of pollarded lime trees. The Herb Garden was recreated in 1982 from Gertrude Jekyll’s 1907 design. Each generation has enhanced the gardens and the recent wood carvings are particularly interesting.
Each Wednesday in July visitors are welcome to enjoy a free Garden Tour with a member of our Gardens Team.
DINOSAUR TRAIL
Younger visitors will particularly enjoy the Wilderness area within the Gardens with its Willow House, bird-song sound box and garden sculptures as well as the new brand new Bug Hotel and Giants Chair.
Our Dinosaur Trail in the Wilderness Garden is very popular with younger visitors. The 72 life-sized dinosaurs and pre-historic creatures can be found grazing amongst the shrubbery. Exploring the woodland paths, children can learn about the T-Rex, the Woolly Mammoth and other fascinating pre-historic creatures. There are information boards throughout the Dinosaur Trail and a huge chalk board for creating your own ‘cave-man drawings’.
Look out for the wind-up sound box and make some dinosaur roars.
Playgrounds
ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND
Have a fun-filled day at the Adventure Playground: enjoy the astro and drop slides, play on the swings and slides at Fort Knebworth, whizz down the zip wire, try the interactive splash water play features, and scale the new climbing equipment.
On the drop slide children must be at least 1.2 metres and able to ride alone. Children under 1.2 metres can ride the curly slide only if they are accompanied by a responsible person over 16 years old on the same mat. On the Astroglide Slide children under 1 metre must be accompanied by a responsible person over 16 years old on the same mat. This slide has no minimum height restriction (when accompanied by a responsible person) but all riders must be able to walk unaided to be able to take a turn.
During extreme heat and rain storms the Astro Slide will be closed.

The Nickelodeon Experience
AN IMMERSIVE OUTDOOR ADVENTURE
Enter the world of Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. at The Nickelodeon Experience, a place where all your favourite TV shows come to life! With activities for kids of all ages, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy.
Adventure seekers, aged 2-14 years old, can explore the worlds of their favourite Nickelodeon TV shows and discover ten activity zones. From multi-sensory and interactive adventures to creative and skill-based challenges, kids get to map their own journey and curate their own fun.
Kids can go behind the scenes of some of Nickelodeon’s most popular shows including The Thundermans School for Superheroes where they’ll learn to acquire their own super-powers. Step into an episode of Henry Danger, where Nick fans must navigate Henry Danger’s Maze full of secret twists, turns, puzzles and passages. They can also race against the clock to solve the Hunter Street Escape Room mystery, which puts teamwork to the test in an attempt to crack the code and find the key.
And the excitement doesn’t stop there! From a trip to Adventure Bay with an opportunity to meet PAW Patrol fan-favourites Chase and Marshall, to a subterranean
adventure in The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ underground lair, Nick fans will be utterly captivated in this immersive outdoor experience. What’s more, budding explorers can also jump on board a giant pirate ship and hunt for treasure in an immersive play zone based on the swashbuckling world of Santiago of The Seas.
For the perfect finale to the experience, you’re invited to the Slime Time Party to finally know how it feels to get SLIMED – the ultimate Nickelodeon honour!
Alongside these immersive zones, children and their parents can relax at SpongeBob SquarePants’ Bikini Bottom Beach, where they can also sample delicious delights from the many themed food and beverage stalls and visit the Nickelodeon store and take home the perfect memento from an incredible range of exclusive Nickelodeon Experience merchandise.

I took my boys (nearly 6 & 4) yesterday (April 2012) - what an utterly fabulous time! The entrance fee was worth-it. And they wanna go back! The Dino trail was a BIG hit! Lots of photos! I liked how the 1st train ride was included but charged for more than 1 ride! My eldest loved the zip-wire (plus he's tall so could manage it by himself!) The Fort was exciting, time spent exploring! It was busy (the queues in were horrible) but didn't feel crowded once inside. Very good value for money and I'd be more than happy to go again! Annd more importantly, so would the boys. p.s. I didn't go into the stately home but not bothered but it's more expensive than the grounds! Would highly recommend it, if asked.

Knebworth House is a fantastic day out for the kids. There is an outdoor fort [dog free] to play in/on. An outdoor activity area with zip wires, swings, climbing frames, 'fitness' trail, etc to suit all ages up to 13. A small railway [which actually goes quite fast!] which my 2 boys then aged 9 and 7 LOVED. But best of all are the slides. One of the slides goes beneath the ground [from the top of the hill] I could not get my boys off it [I daren't go on it personally as it looked like 180 degree drop!!!!] but they abosolutely loved it and came out unscathed. I was brave enough to go on the other slides where you sit on a mat for extra speed! The dinosaur trail is good fun [we got some great photos] and the house was also very interesting - even the kids enjoyed that. There is also a maze which is probably more fun for younger kids that aren't very tall. A cafe and shop are on site but we took a picnic. We were there for 6 hours and didn't want to leave. Will definately be back this summer. It's only £10 including the house and £8 if not - but do go round the house - the guide we had made it really interesting for the kids, they really wanted to bring history to life. Have a fab day out - I cannot recommend this highly enough

Our family love Knebworth for a day out, Loads to do for all ages and tired kids at the end of the day - perfect!
