  • 1 baking potato

  • whatever filling you fancy

  1. Preheat oven to 200'C/Gas mark 6

  2. Wash and dry the potato, prick with a fork, put in the top of the oven for 1-2 hours (depending on the size of the spuds) - until the potatoes are cooked through and crispy on the outside

  3. To cook on a barbecue or bonfire: wrap the washed and pricked potatoes individually in foil and cook in the embers of the barbecue or bonfire for 1-2 hours

  4. Alternatively, bake the potatoes in the oven or microwave until almost cooked, then finish them off on the barbecue grill to crisp them up

And choose your favourite fillings:

  1. Chilli/veggie chilli

  2. Baked beans and grated cheese

  3. Tuna and sweetcorn (with mayo)

  4. Scrambled egg

  5. Cheese and bacon

  6. Cottage cheese

  7. Prawns in Marie Rose sauce

  8. Sautéed garlic mushrooms

Tips

Speed up cooking time by microwaving potatoes for 10 minutes before putting them in the oven or on the BBQ

Variations

A range of fun toppings; put them all on the table so your kids can choose for themselves - they love creating new combinations e.g. sweetcorn, grated carrot, grated cheese, chopped tomatoes, tinned pineapple, reduced fat coleslaw, relishes or cooked meat

To make this recipe vegan-friendly, opt for veggie fillings or tasty combinations such as baked beans with dairy-free grated cheese or guacamole with kidney beans
