Unicorn party invites, decorations and party settings
Set the scene for your magical unicorn party with unicorn invites, balloons and fancy dress...
1. Unicorn invitations
State the theme for your unicorn party from the start with unicorn invitations. Either buy some ready-made invites or design your own using images you find online or some cute pictures your child has drawn.
If you think the invites are going to end up lounging at the bottom of school bags for a few days, message your guests' parents to make sure you get an RSVP in plenty of time.
2. Unicorn hairbands
A great way to really bring the unicorn theme to life is to give each of your guests unicorn hairbands to wear when they arrive.
You can buy multipacks online or get creative with some hairbands, homemade paper flowers, cardboard cones and biodegradable glitter.
3. Unicorn fancy dress
If you really want to go all out with your unicorn party ideas, ask your guests to come in unicorn fancy dress! Make sure you let them know on the invite so they have time to get their costume together.
Alternatively, you could have a fancy dress box full of unicorn onesies and coloured tutus at the party, so kids can find something to wear on top of their party clothes if they wish.
4. Unicorn balloons
Unicorn balloons are an easy way to bring a magical feel to your party space. And they can double up as a gift for your guests to take home, too.
5. Multi-coloured balloons
If you don't want to spend lots of money on unicorn balloons, group together different coloured pastel balloons for a fun, unicorn effect.
6. Magical fairy lights
Make your unicorn party sparkly and magical by stringing up twinkly fairy lights.
They're a cheap and effective decoration and can be reused for future parties, at Christmas or even around your home.
7. Unicorn table setting
Don't forget the table! You can buy unicorn paper plates, cups and napkins from most supermarkets or online. Or you could opt for a selection of different coloured pastel plates instead.
To make your table setting really special you could sprinkle some table confetti over it or use a glittery tablecloth.
Unicorn party games and activities
Keep your party guests entertained with loads of fun, unicorn-themed games and activities...
8. Pin the tail on the unicorn
Forget donkeys, for a twist on a classic party game, draw a large unicorn on a piece of paper and stick it to the wall at child height.
Make a sparkly unicorn tail from coloured ribbon or cut one out of card, and put Blu Tack or sticky tape on the back.
Blindfold each child in turn, spin them round and ask them to stick the tail on the unicorn. Whoever gets closest to the right spot, wins!

9. Unicorn face painting
For unicorn party ideas that will go down well with the kids, you can't go wrong with a unicorn-face painting station! You can do it yourself if you're feeling creative or ask another parent to lend a hand. For a really professional look, book a face painter instead.
10. Unicorn piñata
A piñata will look great as a decoration at the beginning of a party. Then later on your guests can have loads of fun smashing it down to reach the sweets hidden inside!
11. Unicorn ring toss
Make large unicorn horns from rolled up card and rings from paper plates (just cut out the middle). Split your guests into two teams to see who can get the most rings over the horns to win prizes.
12. Unicorn hair
Get some coloured hair sprays that are suitable for kids and set up a hair station. Spray streaks of colour into their hair so it looks like a beautiful unicorn's mane.
Just make sure it's washable hair spray and check with guests' parents for any allergies and to get their consent first.
13. Unicorn crafting
A crafting table is one of the best unicorn party ideas, and these toilet roll unicorns are really easy to make. All you need are some old loo rolls, coloured pens and paints and a selection of crafting supplies such as tissue paper, pom poms and biodegradable glitter.
Kids can add a cardboard horn to their unicorn and let their imaginations run wild.

15. Unicorn nail painting
Kids will love a unicorn nail bar. Have a selection of coloured nail varnishes so they can have a different colour per nail like a pretty unicorn's mane, and stick on some nail jewels, too.
Older kids will like to paint each others' nails while younger kids will need an adult's help.
16. Unicorn colouring in
For one of the quieter unicorn party ideas, gather together some coloured pens and pencils and print out some pictures of unicorns for kids to colour in.
