Hello everyone, I need some feedback as I begin a very long and uncomfortable wait, I am unsure if I’m pregnant.

this post might be slightly tmi but I feel the information will be relevant and important.

I’ve been un/officially trying to conceive for the past year and a half. I went onto an IUD at the age 19 and had it till the latest withdraw time of 5 years. After my IUD I continued birth control with the depo, hoping my birth control would keep my endo in check or stasis till I was ready.

I stopped depo at 26 and did not get my period for a whole year.

However, I am 28 now and since my period I have kept constant information on my body with the help of Ovia. I know when my periods usually are, where my cervix positions are, and usually the state of my cervix.

My cervix has suddenly become very soft and I am a week late for my period at this point. My period flows are usually very heavy (ultra) and a day or 2 early if not on time. I have a 28 day cycle and know exactly when my cervix is at its peak softness. It’s not supposed to be soft yet?? The region down there has become very soft overall and I have thick sticky white cm.

I also have taken a pregnancy test after day 3 of missed period, morning pee, and it was negative. I’ve also been fatigued and cut throat angry, which is not me; I sound like a bloody Disney princess and my personality is kind like one.

I guess I have to begin the uncomfortable extra wait.

There is one note why I am still questioning if I am. I had an extreme relapse in my depression and have had poor effort taking care of myself for 3 weeks. I got unexpectedly fired in my competitive job when I started my period, and I’m not sure if it’s the extreme stress, depression, and the reduced eating. I have still been taking my vitamins and taking iron almost always kick starts my period on time.

My family has consistent history of endometriosis, needing hysterectomy, and some infertility (unless it happens to my family young). Please provide feedback or comfort while I wait for next month or a weirdly timed period.

thank you

First off, I want to say that I hear you, and I understand how stressful and uncertain this waiting period can be. It sounds like you've been through quite a journey already, and the added uncertainty about whether you might be pregnant can certainly add to the stress.

It's understandable to feel a mix of emotions given your current situation. Your body's signals can sometimes be confusing, especially when you're tracking everything so closely. The fact that your cervix is softer than usual and you're experiencing changes in your cervical mucus definitely adds to the uncertainty.

Taking a pregnancy test after three days of a missed period is a good step, but sometimes it can take a little longer for the hormone levels to be detectable. So, it might be worth considering taking another test in a few days, just to be sure. Remember, it's not uncommon for pregnancy tests to give false negatives, especially early on.

I also want to acknowledge the challenges you've been facing with your mental health and the recent stressors in your life. It's completely normal for stress, depression, and changes in eating habits to affect your menstrual cycle. These factors can definitely throw things off track and make it harder to interpret what's going on with your body.

Take care and all the best. x
