Hello everyone, I hope this finds you well.
I am currently in the process of applying for my newborn baby's British passport. I am a polish citizen and also have Indefinite leave to remain.
My baby currently does not have any other form of documentation.
Do I need to apply for a Polish passport for my baby before I apply for a British passport? And am i able to apply for a Britsh passport for my baby straight away without proof of a certificate of British citizenship?
Thank you.
It usually depends wear you are born my grandaughter has an Australian mother but she is British and will hold a British passport but you can check by ringing the passport office .
Hi if you have indefinite leave to remain in the UK before your child was born all you need to do is apply for a UK passport and send in your child’s full birth certificate plus the proof of your indefinite leave and your own Polish passport.
Apply for both. UK allows you to have dual citizenship not sure if Poland allows though. Like that they are able to decide which one they want to keep when they turn 18. Most children choose both.
Due to Brexit and it’s implications , Polish - quicker at airports , but more importantly less restrictions on travelling (length of stay etc )
Your baby's birth certificate is documentation of birth parents etc my cleaner got her child a British one and then a polish one when she visited over there she had no issue getting the baby a British passport
