How do you deal with stress that you have no control over

I seem to not have that button where I can compartmentalise things so when I'm stressed I shut down don't want to go to work see anyone and stop dealing with life instead of thinking we'll I can't control the situation so put it to one side and keep living

This ears away then and I do nothing but worry over finances even though there's nothing I can do about it

Looking for different people's coping mechanisms I guess.

There's so much worse that can happen so y do I focus on the same thing over and over and not let things go that I can't control

Hi Marie,

I'm Catherine, one of the Parent Supporters here at Netmums. Thanks for sharing with us. Stress is something which affects us but our capacity to manage can be impacted by lots of things. We may have coping strategies in place which aren't overly helpful or maybe we don't have much of a support network around us. With the right supports and strategies, things can be easier. Marie, I also wonder if you would consider some counselling as another support? If you contact you GP they can signpost you to this.

Counselling can help you with managing stress. A good counsellor would get to the root cause of why you stress the way you do, and teach you some strategies and skills to help you. So it is worth exploring this option.
