Hey mums, hoping to get a little advice here

my son is 14 months old and is still very much waking like a newborn through the night

He currently goes to bed at 7pm and usually wakes between 6-7:30am, I reduced his naps to once a day with 5-5.5hrs wake windows either side of the nap. I did this because he wouldn’t take a 2nd nap after having a morning one which meant by 4pm he was exhausted. Anyway I’ve realised that he seems to sleep a lot sounded in my bed rather than his cot, he mainly has his naps in my bed and we don’t co sleep in the night.

has anyone put their child at this age or of similar age into their own double bed with safety rails?

did it work? What were the cons?

My son hated the cot and I ended up co sleeping … he went into a single bed at 14 months and slept through from day one. Took few nights to get him to stay in his bed but it was best move for him I left folded up quilt on floor( tried guard rail but he screamed) in case he fell out but he never did

I wouldn’t put them in an adult double bed as it’s too far from the ground and kids will get themselves all over the place in the night.

you can buy double floor beds. We got one of these for my son which he has had from 15 months old as he kept bashing into the bars waking himself up. A double den meant he couldn’t move around a lot more freely and he got a much better sleep. Also great for you as you can lay comfortably if they wake in the night. Our design had a natural rail round the bed as the mattress sunk into the frame. There was just one opening to climb in. And even though it’s a floor design , there was maybe 1 or 2 occasions with all the twisting and turning he managed to get like half his body off the bed in the gap. We put pillows there so he didn’t hurt himself if he had fallen the very small distance , like 1 feet. So I would really worry it was in a bed higher off the floor. This is the type of thing I mean. There are so many choices for different budgets now. https://kiddirooms.shop/catalog/product/view/id/110/s/lasse-wooden-kids-bed-hand-made/?gclid=CjwKCAiA44OtBhAOEiwAj4gpORBYJB8M1c8NcOO55dsgP5_rmk2BK6k9Gu_EB2Y5-ILlZZ-m2wYxbBoC4scQAvD_BwE

Hi I am looking at a floor bed, budget isn’t my issue but I’m debating the floor bed as I feel it could be drafty

Hiya,

I have two kids one is 11 and the other is 9. I put both mine in a double bed from around the age of 16 - 18 months. As long as they are tall enough to safely get on an off. And they have safety rails I also had stair gates on their doors.

I never ran into problems with it and they have had double beds ever since. 😊

yeah the going to bed isn’t the problem, it’s the constant waking like a newborn throughout the night.

Going In a bed won't stop a child from waking some children wake until 6 years old or older a bed won't solve it make sure the child is warm . Full tummy has comfort etc but apart from that a child will still wake
