The official advice on eating scampi in pregnancy
Good news! It's safe to eat scampi during pregnancy, as long as it's thoroughly cooked.
Scampi is made from langoustines, a member of the lobster family. The NHS says that shellfish is fine to eat when you're pregnant as long as you make sure it's cooked through.
This is because raw shellfish can contain harmful bacteria, viruses or toxins that can cause food poisoning. During pregnancy, you're more susceptible to food poisoning. While it's unlikely to do your baby any harm, it can be very unpleasant.
