The official advice on eating pâté in pregnancy
Unfortunately, pâté isn't safe to eat during pregnancy.
The NHS advises you should avoid all types of pâté when you're pregnant, including liver pâté and vegetarian pâté. This is because all pâté, whether it's made from meat, fish or vegetables, can contain the bacteria listeria. Listeria can cause a rare infection called listeriosis, which may be harmful to your unborn baby and can lead to miscarriage or stillbirth.

Liver pâté and all liver products contain high levels of vitamin A. You should avoid food that's high in vitamin A when you're pregnant as it can harm your baby.
