Good news! Crème fraîche is safe to eat in pregnancy.
Crème fraîche is made by adding biological cultures to cream, a bit like a probiotic drink. According to the NHS, it's perfectly safe to eat while you're pregnant. This is because almost all crème fraîche is made with pasteurised milk nowadays.
You're unlikely to come across crème fraîche made with unpasteurised milk, but if you do, don't eat it while you're pregnant. The NHS says that foods made with unpasteurised milk aren't safe to eat. That's because they contain a type of bacteria called listeria, which can increase the risk of miscarriage or health problems for your baby.
