The official advice on eating brie in pregnancy
You should avoid eating brie when pregnant unless it's cooked until steaming hot throughout.
This is because brie is a mould-ripened soft cheese. During pregnancy, the NHS advises against eating mould-ripened soft cheeses with a white rind, like brie and camembert, unless they're thoroughly cooked.
Soft cheeses with a white rind contain more moisture than hard cheese, making it easier for harmful bacteria like listeria to grow. In rare cases, listeria can cause an infection called listeriosis. Listeriosis can make your unborn baby very unwell and may lead to miscarriage or stillbirth. The cooking process kills off bacteria.
