Motorway speeds

Why is everyone driving so slowly on the motorway these days?
I can't count the number of times people have been doing 60-65mph on the motorway, often in the middle and outside lanes, which have traditionally been the speeding lanes
Driving in continental Europe where motorway limits are 130kph, and people are doing 160-200kph with no issue
Driving in continental Europe also feels alot safer than driving in the UK
So what gives?
Have people in the UK been brainwashed by all the speed kills campaigns
Do people just not have anywhere to be these days?
Clearly this must be a joke. The national speed limit here is 70mph and in case you hadn’t noticed, most of the motorways have speed restrictions of less in certain parts and cameras galore to enforce this. So by all means speed if you want, but good luck with that on Britain’s motorways as they’re always gridlocked as it is! 🤣
The speed limit is 70, so 65 isn’t slow slow !
50 ? - yes , inside lane !
You can’t compare our motorways with those elsewhere in Europe !

"65 isn't slow slow"
The middle and outside lanes have traditionally been the 80 and 90 lanes

But they aren’t meant to be - the 3rd lane ( I thought) is for overtaking and not meant to be used as a ‘fast’ lane although you’d never know it. The inside lane is for slower traffic and the middle one for vehicles travelling at 70 . That’s what I always thought but maybe I should brush up on the Highway Code - not looked at it since passing my test many years ago .
‘Which have traditionally been the speeding lanes’ 😂 love it. Middle lane hoggers are my pet hate 😡 lessons on motorways should be mandatory in my opinion as some drivers seem terrified and that makes me nervous 🤨 I much prefer motorway driving it’s so much easier but I’ll keep out of your way speedy gonzales 😂
The speed limit is 70mph so doing 65 is far from going slow. drive to the conditions, no way I'm doing 70 when I can't see far enough because of the weather. Also there are now lot of cameras along the motorway and speeds can be reduced. I'm not getting a speeding ticket just to keep you happy!
The inside lane should be the one you drive on, the other 2 are for over taking, not for doing 80 and 90 mph when the limit is 70. Also there are unmarked police cars patrolling the motorway looking for people speeding.

Police cars won't care unless it's over 90
Spain. France, Italy have 130km limit less than 81mph
with the highest being Poland at 140km less than 87 mph
The others are lower
- Germany: 100 km/h = 62.1
- Austria: 100 km/h
- Belgium: 90 km/h =55.9
- Bulgaria: 90 km/h
- Cyprus: 80 km/h = under 50 mph
Don't think at 112.km we do too badly
60/65 isn't slow - 70 is a limit not a target and you should drive to the conditions, which often require that you drive more slowly.
Also, there's no such thing as 'speeding lanes'! Lane 1 is a driving lane, lanes 2, 3 etc. are overtaking lanes. I think you need to invest in a copy of the Highway Code and refresh yourself. It's arrogance such as yours that causes accidents on roads and kills people.
