Hello everyone
Looking for some ideas and tips really
My daughter will be 1 in February (I know it's a little while off but want to look into it) and I'm not sure what to do!!!
I do want to have a little party/get together but nothing over the top because she's so young still!
My flat is quite small and so really limited space! We've got a garden but February weather is probably not going to be great!! I feel like hiring a hall is a bit over the top!
Looking at who I would invite (family and close friends) there's about 11 children (3 babies and 8 toddlers) and plus their mummies, my flat would just be chaotic.
I have the option of not having a party and just celebrating ourselves (and grandparents) but I do want to do something for her....any good arguments on not bothering with a little party?
What did you all do?

They are not too young for a party IMO. I have a big family, plus lots of friends from his baby swim lessons, playgroups plus my friends children and had 15 kids to invite to my DS's first party. So i had a soft play party at a playarea for age 0-5years. Crawlers had lots to play with, lots of little ride ons, ball pool, small slide, toys, baby bouncers etc it was fab and DS really enjoyed himself. Alot less stress then having one at home and not much dearer then paying for a buffet you do yourself. Then for family after we met at local park, farm had a picnic for tea and fed ducks which was lovely too. But he is a july baby!

Hi. For my daughters 1st birthday I found it a really emotional day I did a cream tea for everyone at home, My parents and my partners parents and sister. We had a Buzz fizz, And look through all her photos from the past year. It was a fantastic day althought my daughter slept for 5 hours of it ! I wouldnt have a soft play party at this age, Maybe just pay admission as at 1 they cant really eat what party food these places provide. My daughters Birthday is also in Feb, It normally snows !! You could have a day at a local farm?

Thank you for your input ladies.
Yeah I'm not too sure on a large soft play area, I just think they might all be too young? Aged between 8 months and 3 years old. I will have a look if any local ones have specific young areas....
Thanks for the children's centre tip - I didn't realise you could hire them. My local one is lovely with really good play facilities.....I might look into that....
Thank you
Anyone else?

I was refusing to have a party for my dd turning one and decided to have my friends kids round to ours however since realising that would be 19 kids plus adults i've now booked the local soft play as so much easier

Could you have it at parents house?
We lived in a little flat when my eldest Lo was born and for his first birthday we had a little party at MIL's house, had a bouncy castle in the garden as it was just warm enough (mid sept!) and had some food and friends, we just did the same for his third birthday a few weeks ago actually!! lol!
My youngest is turning one on Monday and we again are having a little party next weekend but at our house this time and the kids will just play indoors, prob will be a bit mad as there will be my eldests friends really and family so about 5 toddlers and lots of adults.
Softplay is nice idea but we have never really had enough children to do it.

We had about 5 friends and mummies for a baby sensory sing song that I put together myself as it is expensive to get someone in to lead it. Then we had a sandwich party lunch, jelly and icecream, I made a themed birthday cake and lots of balloons for the children to play with. Then the babies played while we chatted and I gave them all an age appropriate party bags to take home with a balloon and piece of cake.
I also got some lovely helium balloons which they loved looking at and playing with.
Unfortunately DS was ill. (everyone was warned he had had a temperature the day before and came along anyway). He was better first thing, but then slept in sing song time and then ate/had his cake/played etc.
In the afternoon he took a real turn for the worse and we spent his birthday evening in the paediatric ward being assessed. He had tonsilitis poor chap.

@ Monica....that's the thing, there's just going to be too many people here! My OH is a clean freak and he will have a heart attack lol and I think it will be too uncomfortable!
@ Aimee...hard to explain but my mum has just got bits and bobs everywhere lol, there's only 3 people living there but it feels crowded she's got hippy furniture, ornaments and dangly bits everywhere! She hasn't got a big house either...
I will have about 3 babies who are 8 months old, 7 toddlers from 2-3 years old and a 6 and 9 year old. (12)
Do you think they would be too young for a soft play area? The majority will be 2/3 years old...
I will definitely chase up the Children's Centre idea because my local one is lovely and a lovely size....might have a look see if there's any small-ish halls nearby!
There will be about 12 children and 14/15 adults
Any other ideas/experiences welcome

Our Daughter will be 1 on 10th November so we've booked the local childrens Centre for the day before as they only do it on Fridays. Not too sure what what theme etc we're going to do but they get to play with all the toys

Not sure what might be local to you but near where I live in Bristol there are small soft plays that are kind of half soft play half cafe... And they do parties where you can take the place over or share with another group. These soft play type places tend to be aimed at the younger child so would be ideal (ie have dressing up, kitchens, soft matts etc).
Another idea is that church's often run toddler groups and have toys etc on site and rent out their room(s) on Saturdays (along with access to toys). Could be worth asking around.

Hi. Take a look on the Local to you site for local hire companies/childrens entertainers. I'm in Leicester and used a local soft play hire company which my son loved on his 1st birthday. I only wish I'd hired it for the whole day rather than just the party. He was most upset when we started to pack it away! Have fun
