:welcome:to Netmums and thank you for your post
It is likely that your baby is doing this eye rubbing because she is tired; it really is quite common for babies to do this. However it would be worth just having a little look at her eye lashes, occasionally a babies eye lashes can grow at an awkward angle and can move into and irritate her eyes. If you think that this could be the problem you should take your DD along to be checked by the GP.
It is unlikely to be an allergic reaction i.e. hay fever as it is the wrong time of year for this and generally other allergies will have other side effects also.
You may find it helps to cool and soothe her eyes and the sensitive skin around them to very gently wipe with cotton wool and cool water.
I hope that this will help Claire

I really feel for you it's terrible seeing your little rub her eyes. Unfortunately applying creams (whilst it can sooth) is only masking the problem and not dealing with why it is accuring in the first place. I'm a qualified nutritionist and i would really recommend having an allergy test as I'm pretty certain your little one is representing a reactive immune system and is more that likely allergic to a few things ...most probably one of them being milk. Allergy to cow's milk is a well-studied form of food allergy. There are both immediate and delayed patterns of milk allergy. Cow's milk contains many proteins that are antigenic - they excite immune responses.
People of all ages with bad gastrointestinal bacteria may have difficulty digesting these proteins and may absorb them as antigens. Milk problems may be attributed to lactose intolerance and difficulty digesting the milk-sugar enzyme, lactose. This may also be attributed to a deficiency in zinc...check for white spots on your little ones nails.
can. i ask what they gave to your girl and if it worked what allergy she had my little one keeps itching her eyes at the same times as your little one
Hi Laura
