When I was about 5 0r 6 (1989-1990) I used to holiday in Bridlington with my parents and aunt, uncle and cousins. On our way back from Bridlington to Rotherham, we used to stop off at a large park/theme park. I'm not sure what its actual name was but I knew it as Hacienda.

Problem is, I can no longer find any mention of it. My mother says she can't remember. The cousins, aunt and uncle I can't ask because of a family rift some years back. I'm starting to think that I'm going crazy!

It had two large rectangular outdoor pools for swimming in, one of which may or may not have had a fake island. Some park equipment. A boating lake with pedalos. Some small houses you couldn't go into that were done out like old victorian ones, with beams and white in between, and one or two that you could enter.

Please help me because I'm starting to think that I dreamed it!

I've just found out it was near Doncaster and was connected to a nightclub, if that further jogs anyone's memories! So at least now I know it was real!

Nope! Went there yesterday - was the little houses that started me thinking about it! Did visit sundown - or pets corner as it was then - a lot as a child, though!

No you havnt dreamt it! Even though I'm 8 years too late replying to this (found it on Google when talking to my partner about this park) my mum and step dad had a canal boat when I was younger (33 now) and we used to visit this theme park on the boat.
When it closed down I remember me and my friends getting in and it was all derelict. A man chased us out as we was trying to play on the canoes, I look back now and think how dangerous and scary it would of been now.

And yes it was called the Hacienda fun park, I have photos from when I was younger there too.

I don't think many people remember about it!

Also come across this as I often think about the Hacienda. My nanan would take us there in the summer. There was a haunted house to walk through but we knew where the light switch was so we'd turn it on to take younger cousins through. I loved the little pool and pedalos. Really good memories although it wouldn't be much cop for my children now but who cares. Xx

It's nice to hear about a fading 1980s theme park and remember the nostalgia it evokes. Exploring abandoned places often sparks curiosity about their history and what led to their demise.
