My daughter is 18 and she plans to travel for 3 months (supposedly with a friend but communication between them is minimal ) therefore she is pretty much alone .
She has booked a flight there and back - in between she will be going to various places across Asia and NZ .
She won’t be working whilst away but has saved to fund the 3 month trip !
Whilst her dad and I both feel travelling is great for broadening the kind etc , we are naturally both concerned - her safety primarily .
She reminds us that thousands go and are safe and you only hear about the bad things . We both acknowledge this , and she has told us about how travellers meet up and travel onward in groups etc .
She has been to festivals and away in Europe with friends but never for this long !
Ive suggested she do a voluntary placement somewhere to begin with that has structure but she doesn’t want the restrictions .
We have the 360 app so we can see where she is and obviously communication is great too these days with smart phones and Wi-Fi .
She’s going whatever .
BUT , what else can we advise / do ?
Anyone been through similar ?
TIA
I know as a parent they will always be kids to us but she is an adult.
Like you said keep in Contact have times when she will call or message if she can't call get her to send a text to update you.
I'm sure she will be fine .
I was Married at 18 😅
