Hi everyone!
My DD is nearly 7 months old and I am seriously struggling to get her to self settle to sleep!
She’s never slept through the night and the only way I can get her to sleep is either rocking/boobing her (bad habits I know lol)

So far I’ve tried:

No cry sleep solution
Pick up/put down method
Gradual retreat/chair method
Relaxing music e.g Brahms lullaby

None of these have worked (she ends up being hysterical until I pick her up) and CC is not for me.

Is there anything else I can try?

How long have you given these methods before giving up?
I ask as they can take 6-8 weeks and things will usually get worse before they get better. Stick with one and be consistent. It will work eventually.

I'm in the exact same boat with my 5 month old!! Rocking or boob to sleep!!

If she's not properly out when I put her down she will either muck about and suck her hands and sleep (20% of the time) or she will start crying and yes it's hysterical too!!!

I've tried so many things but I do just cave in and pick her up to walk her to sleep.

Yes I suppose being consistent.... It's just very hard =(

Good luck Amy x x

Hi Amy

Its very normal for under 1s to wake in the night. Sleep can be disrupted for a number of reasons from hunger, growth spurts, brain development leaps, teething, illness, comfort, seperation anxiety just to name a few.

You may find Netmums baby sleep guide helpful in learning more about sleep at this stage.

Like others have said it can take more than 2 weeks to implement a sleep routine. Although your LO may not sleep through at this age we can implement sleep strategies to help them build upon their confidence of learning to self settle. Having a good bedtime routine, a sleep strategy and with consistency and time it can get easier.

I hope the above links help in some way

Best Wishes, Emma
