Long story short, my 6yo has been battling a flare up of eczema for around 3 months now on her wrist. Had 3 rounds of steroid cream, had antibiotics 2 weeks ago for an infection. Took her back to the GP on Friday as it had flared up again and was making her lose sleep in pain. They've now done an urgent referral to dermatology but she also had a rash. The first time she had this rash we were told it was chickenpox (how wrong they were), the GP on Friday said it was just a viral rash and nothing to be concerned about. Took her to urgent care today as the rash had spread and become much more aggressive to be told its Eczema herpeticum. She's been prescribed antibiotics for her wrist again along with an antiviral for the herpeticum. We have been told nothing else other than take her straight to hospital if her eyes become itchy/red/swollen. What can I expect from this? Are there any tips for those who have experienced it, on how to manage the symptoms? Is there anythinf which makes it worse? She's well in herself other than incredibly emotional and grouchy due to the lack of sleep

Hi Jade,
Thank you for your post.
I am sorry to hear about your LOs skin at the moment.
I hope it wont be too long of a wait until you are seen by the dermatology team who will be able to give you more specific advice and a treatment plan. In the meantime you may find this information leaflet helpful British Association of Dermatologists (bad.org.uk)
It would be great to hear from any other members who have experience around this to offer some advice and reassurance.
Wishing your LO a speedy recovery
Best wishes
